GOT TERROIR

Great wines begins in the vineyard, yet we know that’s not the whole story!

We believe in the fastidious and sensitive souls in the cellar. We also believe in all of us who – hospitably – bring great wines to the table.  

For nearly two decades, we’ve been navigating the backroads of Italy, France, and Germany-Austria, discovering soulful wines with terroir. We talk daily – and travel weekly – with our teams in France and Italy to discover the rising stars, and to collaborate with and support producers. There’s no “lost in translation.”

We import nationally in all 50 US states through a professional and passionate group of distributors and representatives, many of whom we’ve also become friends with during market work or on PortoVino trips.

Since 2025, we also have our own direct PortoVino distribution in New York & New Jersey, and California.

We work with a diverse mix of producers: from heritage producers to iconoclasts. All of them have magical, often centuries old, terroirs. All are family-run estates that have a deep respect for the land that prioritises soil and worker health; most work organically or biodynamically.

Bringing these producers and wines to the table to open isn’t just our job, it’s what inspires us. Just like you, we want the simple human pleasure of opening and sharing a bottle of wine from far away people and lands.

When the stars are aligned, we’re sitting at a table with great wines and great people, learning from each other, laughing together, and actively becoming a part of that continuing wine tradition, comprised of where the wine is grown, vinified, served, enjoyed, and…remembered.
